    Check-out: Saturday, June 29: noon

    Program Description:

It is no secret that preparing for college is a stressful task for students, parents and educators alike. College-bound participants, ages 16-22, will go through intensive preparation for college through learning and exploring different communication access options, and understanding application procedures for college admission and accommodations.

I Can! Gear Up for College will help participants learn how to utilize assistance through the Texas Workforce Commission Vocational Rehabilitation's counseling services for postsecondary education purposes, and learn about tips for passing the ACT and SAT college entrance exams.

Participants will gain insight into best practices for study habits, time management, self-advocacy, workplace readiness, goal-setting, and research skills.

At colleges and universities of their choice, participants will explore and identify the different degree plans, learn how to communicate with vocational rehabilitation counselors to receive assistance with accommodations, develop an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE), and how to seek professional advice and set career goals.

Led by highly qualified and certified instructors, this comprehensive college and workplace readiness program will guide participants to better understand and value the importance of career goals that will guide their academic paths toward gainful and meaningful employment.

All participants are assumed to be staying the night on campus during the duration of the program unless we are notified otherwise during the registration period. The legal guardian will be responsible for dropping off and picking up participants at 8:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.

    Program Fee:
