  • Parents Offering Support

Do you want to connect with other parents of deaf and hard of hearing children?

Many parents find that talking to other parents offers support and information delivered in ways that professionals just can't touch.  Here are several great options to help you find a network of parent support.

Texas Hands & Voices and Texas Guide By Your Side

TX H&V is the state chapter of a national parent-driven organization dedicated to providing unbiased support to families and their children who are deaf or hard of hearing as well as the professionals who serve them. GBYS is a Hands & Voices program providing direct support to families through Parent or Deaf or Hard of Hearing Guides.  Texas GBYS is offered through a partnership between Texas Hands & Voices and the Educational Resource Center on Deafness.

Both organizations live by their motto of "What works for your child is what makes the choice right!" Visit Texas Hands & Voices and Texas Guide By Your Side

Texas Hands and Voices and their Guide by Your Side program have been VERY beneficial to our family from the moment we got the diagnosis that our daughter was deaf. They provide parent to parent support and paired us with another parent that has walked this journey before us as well as a local professional that is always available to answer specific questions we might have. This organization serves many families in Texas and has a strong leadership team. If you have a deaf or hard of hearing child, being a part of this organization is a MUST! They are amazing!

    Texas Statewide Parent Liaisons

Our Parent Liaison is a parent of deaf or hard of hearing children herself and our Liaison to Spanish speaking parents has more than 20 years of experience working in deaf education. Both are just a phone call or email away and can help guide families to appropriate resources and services. Visit the Texas Statewide Parent Liaisons Page.

    Texas Parent 2 Parent

Though not specifically for parents of deaf and hard of hearing children, this organization may be helpful to those whose children have additional special needs. TxP2P is committed to improving the lives of Texas children who have disabilities, chronic illness, and/or special health care needs. Visit Texas Parent 2 Parent.

    Texas Deafblind Project

The Project provides information, support and training for families, professionals, paraprofessionals, and community members in Texas.  The staff includes consultants with many years of experience in the field of deafblindness. They divide their focus to address the needs of the family, staff serving infants and preschool-aged students, and staff serving students 6-22 years of age.  Visit Texas Deafblind Project.
