Digital Arts, Film and Animation and SpiRIT Writing Competition for Deaf/HH High School Students
National Technical Institute of the Deaf is hosting a Digital Arts, Film, and Animation competition for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students. 9th-12th graders can participate and winners in each category can win a cash prize of $250. The categories are wed design, graphic media, film, 3D animation, interactive media, and photo imagining. Your talented students will need your recommendation to enter. Students who enter must: be deaf or hard of hearing, be in 9th-12th grade at time of entry, complete and submit the following information:
1. an entry form that includes verification that their work is original and that no copyrighted materials are used in the submission 2. permission-to-participate form filled out by parent or guardian. 3. A 150-300 word descriptive essay of the process used in their project. Also, have appropriate forms as required by their school district, give RIT permission to use names, submitted artworks, likenesses, voices and/or signing for possible promotion of the competition.
SpiRIT Writing Contest: for 10th and 11th grade students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This year’s theme is what impact does social media have on your life! Whether you want to write about your own experiences or use stories within your school-issued reading list. How does one's involvement, or lack of involvement in social media impact your life or those around you?
Winners choose between two great prizes! Program fee and travel expenses paid for you to attend Explore Your Future, RIT's six-day summer career program (must satisfy eligibility requirements) OR $500 in cash!
Contest Eligibility and Guidelines: You must be deaf or hard of hearing and enrolled in 10th or 11 grade to enter, two students per grade from each school may enter, there will be up to four winners- two 10th graders and two 11th graders.
How to Enter: Download the entry form at rit.edu.ntid/writingcontest. Complete entry form and submit it with your application package, which must include ALL of the following.
1. a copy of your entry form. 2. A copy of your high school transcript. 3. the final version of an essay or a report written for school.
